» zabukes2006 - TSA Airport Screener Position-Ques

I would like to apply for the TSA Airport Screener position but I do not have the one year experience they list as a requirement. I am a HS graduate and have some college, clean background and health, but NO experience as a screener, security, or x-ray work. Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do to obtain this experience? I read somewhere that no experience was needed but the TSA website states experience is reqd.

They state that a minimum of 1 year is required however, I have heard of applicants being accepted with less experience. It never hurts to apply, go through the process and even if you are not hired, you will then have a good understanding of what you do need. One of the best ways to gain the relevant experience would be to secure a position with a private security company that dispatches security officers to government buildings, malls, private companies, etc. Experience is not required, they provide on the job training and it will give you the background needed to apply to TSA, if you are not successful the first time. Good luck! Tracey
