Wanted: Fearless, daring individuals seeking a thrilling career.

Everyone likes a good thrill every once in a while. Some people enjoy an occasional roller coaster ride while others dare to parasail, bungee jump or even skydive. Still others are professional thrill seekers and these few pursue careers that most of us couldn’t get paid enough to do. Over the next several months we will explore "Thrill-Seeker Careers". Here are a few examples:

Professional Alligator/Reptile Wrestler - Wildlife parks all over South Florida are seeking to train and hire alligator wrestlers. A recent article in the Washington Times referred to this profession as a “dying breed”. It is said that alligator wrestling was once quite a lucrative profession, but is no more as tourists seem to be losing interest in this kind of entertainment.

Professional Storm Chaser (Scientist) - These professional scientists follow storms in order to track their patterns and behavior. It is hopeful that the information gathered will be helpful in preparing for and predicting future storms. Professional storm chasers are employed through the government, educational institutions and private companies, and are required to have training in the field of meteorology.

War Photojournalist and Storm Chaser/ Photojournalist - Photojournalists have made great contributions during war times. Many of the photos they have taken are etched in our minds and bring home to us the devastation of war. Still others dare to chase storms with scientists and take video footage and/or photos of these dangerous storms. The requirements for this profession vary. Some professional photojournalists have trained at colleges/universities, while others learned on the job.

Beekeeper - With the increasing popularity of honey many are finding beekeeping to be a lucrative profession. Entrepreneurs raise bees to produce products such as fresh honey, beeswax candles, honey spreads, skin cream, bee soaps and lip balms. Most beekeepers learn by networking with other beekeepers.

Zookeeper - Being the keeper for an aquarium or butterfly garden might not be too thrilling, but what about being the keeper of a tiger exhibit? Entry-level keepers are responsible for providing daily care for the animals including providing food and water and keeping their home clean and well maintained. More senior keepers oversee or supervise the care of a particular area or section of the zoo. Zookeepers typically have formal education in zoology, animal science or wildlife management, etc.

Stunt Performer - In just one movie a stuntmen may jump from a tall building, be thrown from a moving vehicle and later escape a blazing fire. Stuntmen, also known as body doubles, perform dangerous scenes in place of famous actors. Stuntmen are athletic, skilled and well trained performers.
